How do I split open the glove box door?

One of the pins isn't moving when I pull the handle so I want to open it to TRY and fix it.

From previous threads a complete new box is £200 from Audi and from calling around there seems to be a shortage of black glove boxes at the breakers.

So if any one has a suggestion on how to open the box, I would be greatful.

The glove box is a complete sealed unit! like you i was curious to see how the innards worked, anyway i have done what you are asking to do. I do still have my glove box lid (repaired) but i have yet to put it back together, think this is possible. In truth it is very hard to seperate the door as its completely welded together all round and all parts inside are plastic, i can tell you what your problem is: small reciprocating gear in centre of box,this runs on a moulded PLASTIC stub axle, (complete CR__p design) when this breaks only the one side pin will work! , if it helps (and i manage to put mine back together) i would let you have this lid (working) for £30, this is just to cover my outlay, not any labour etc! just thought it is a 'black' lid with a now metal stub axle, may be couple of very minor scratche's etc but a lot better than podding out for a new lid, PM me if you are interested
