Hello folks.

I have added the very neat Googlemap plugin to the site. This will allow us to 'see' our international community of A2 owners.

To use the system - click on the Googlemap button in the title bar. follow the instructions provided. The Your Entry button allows you to set or clear your entry.

Any problems, let me know.

Hi,

I have updated to the latest Googlemap. It's a steady improvement. I still need to sort out the image marker colours correctly - currently it is using a member's primary user group - and ignoring any secondary user groups (so discount card holders/owners/moderators etc are not being highlighted differently to regular memebers).

Note also the modified post header on your messages - if you have registered your location on the googlemap - then a new 'My Location' link appears.

Any problems, let me know.

UPDATE: If you edit and commit your Googlemap entry - it should now pick up your display group selection from your Group Memberships section of the User Control Panel. If you are a member of multiple groups, you can set this here:

@ben is this map feature still available? I know the URL doesn't work.
I think I used it when I first joined the forum (2009)

Thank you, Andrew

Hey,

The Googlemap feature was part of the old forum software.

There are add-ons that provide similar features (such as https://www.xf2addons.com/resources/members-map.460/). However, it requires a Google Cloud Billing account for the Maps API (they provide $200 credit free each month). I suspect our use would never reach these limits. But it does mean hooking our account to Google's systems. So, would only want to do this if there's sufficient demand for such a feature.

Thank you @ben. The map thing was a nice idea.
Recently I had an overheating issue on the way home (Manchester) from Hadrian’s Wall. I knew that @timmus and @depronman lived somewhere along my route, and suspected that one/both of them might have a spare radiator fan control unit. Unfortunately I didn’t have the address of either, so my best plan was to get home, which I did by driving south along the M6 with the climate control on HI, and the windows and OpenSky open. I arrived home dehydrated and deafened :D.
I have since swapped phone numbers with Paul; already had Tom’s. Also have managed to meet up with Tom and the issue persists using Tom’s exchange unit. I have also learned that so long as climate control is running (at any temperature), the radiator fan runs and stops the engine overheating.
One day we will get to the bottom of the overheating issue, but the workaround is comfortable.

Apparently there are 3 people near my house which is cool, however I’m not on the map..
