grand tourismo 5

If anyone is still playing this rather disappointing game (although with many flaws, it has grown on me) and is still looking for an A2, PM me. I have a spare 1.4 SE A2 in Dolphin Grey Metallic in my garage. Can probably try to 'sell' through GT5 online, although I've never done that before :)

Ha ha, no I've not gone near this in a long time, I was so crushingly disappointed with it, I've actually un-installed it off my hard drive. Bad Company 2 is currently keeping me entertained online at the moment with the recent Vietnam download, and I'm very much enjoying Red Dead Redemption...

I finished another game so got back to GT5 to kill time (when I don't have baby duties!). I've since decided to use lower power car to play the game and it is more fun this way. And running in 720p also makes the game smoother!

You'll be killing a lot of time just staring at the loading screen I'm sure :)

It's such a fundamental flaw in that game that you can win most races just by turning up in an utterly modded crate and driving like a complete muppet. There is almost no reward for actually learning to drive the line, and that's especially so for the opposition car AI.

I recently went back to Racecar: GRID and for me that is a much better driving experience.

I'm so sad, downloaded the Harry Potter Lego demo and I love it, really love it.

I think with that and Black ops I'm sorted

Well after such a long wait and much anticipation i will agree the game lacks something but what? I keep going back and trying to really get into it but just as i think "oh this it more like it" i finish that particular race section and I'm back searching for another class car or tuning the car to the hilt just to get the win.The licence's are a pain and some sections are just so hard to get gold on(or am i just poor at it?).I'm yet to find an a2 in the used car section-i check after each race is completed.
I must say i get more enjoyment from blur -- its more of an arcade blast, hhmm maybe i should try the arcade section on gt5? The graphics in gt5 i think are very good, but they should be really considering all the time that the developers have taken in getting the game out into the real world.
As others have pointed out the loading times are a joke even after the 8gig is downloaded to the hard drive!
We also have a Wii and a Xbox 360 with kinect and will say i think the wii is fantastic "fun" and have spent many hours on it. The kinect is new at the moment and does really show some promise of great things, although i really cant see driving games really working.

So my 2p's worth is that i think the games are getting just to....well complicated and hard work to be any fun anymore. Or is it i'm just to old? possibly :D
cheers mike

mike, you're not wrong, it is a typical Sony approach. They don't 'get' it. They call GT5 a 'simulator' it is even on the start up logo. They should have worked harder on the game element of it. Sony thinks power, graphics, speed, simulation accuracy is everything. Nintendo proved them wrong with the Wii, proved them wrong with the DS. Sony just don't get it. Look at their new portable, NGP, with 5" screen and super fast processing. If I was making game for portable device, I want returns like Angry bird. Not spending all time and money to create a game with PS3 level of graphics.

I HAVE GOT AN A2 AT LAST wow how long has it taken to be able to buy it in the used car lot. i bought it then went straight to the paint shop and re painted it the nearest colour to castle red -result is very close i will post a picture in a while.still feel the game is lacking but will stick with it.
out of interest has anyone seen the video of the red bull jet car doing the ring in like 3 Min's or there abouts? impressive driving.
cheers mike
