Halfords DA

If you're meaning dual action polisher there's plenty to choose from out there without spending a fortune . I've been doing car detailing for a few years. Started off with the Guild polisher from Argos which was only about £50, then moved onto das 6 pro which is not only easier to use but provided better and quicker results . Now using Flex machines which are the next level up again . Proper prep and pad and compound combination is crucial if you don't want to end up with buffer trails. I've seen a lot of poor attempts.

Sorry, yes a dual action polisher.
Looking at your advice, seems you can do more damage than good. i have a hack I can practice on before doing my good motors. Was quoted a starting price of £300 hence I wondered if I could do it myself. Halfords cost £134 whilst Meguiars cost £330+

Cheers

I'd recommend something like this over the Halfords polisher ( and it's cheaper). I have the pro plus version which I've used on many cars and has been great but it's about £180 I think.

DA polishers are pretty safe as it's very hard to burn through paint etc . It's more people tend to not full decontaminate the paintwork before hand ( tar remover, fall out remover , claybar ). Factor in the cost of some decent pads and cutting /polishing compound.

Will take your advice and go for the das in a couple of weeks. For materials I am thinking either 3m products or Meguiars.

Cheers👍

take a look at www.slimsdetailing.co.uk
I have used the chemical guys pads with menzerna polish to really good effect on the A2.
Try out the dodo juice hard wax (dependent upon your car colour .....blue velvet works well on a Blue Colour Storm and Diamond White brings the colour our well for a Silver A2.
Megiurs Ultimate compound & Polish are v.decent too.

I have the halfords dual action and have used it with meguiars cutting compound.
I thought it worked well and the cable was a decent length.
Probably the fact I could go and pick o e up was what made my decision

The consensus of opinion seems to favour Das therefore, just ordered a DasPro and starter kit.

Thanks for the input and advice, will let you know how I get on in the coming weeks.

Cheers,
Paul

So bought a Das6 Pro from Amazon (only because I have an account setup) cost £187 and came with two mops additionally, 4 x 250ml starter polish/paint paste of various strength And 4 x mops With a carrying case.

Well chuffed.

Tried it on bonnet of A2 hack, well it has not been looked after by previous owners, image is attached however, starting to rain so left for another day. Thought it was a good idea to try it on a car that has little value before using it on my better condition A2. Should collect that tomorrow or Wednesday after complete suspension and brake overhaul front and back.

Only tried the left of bonnet - perhaps should have used the heavy duty paste rather than the swirl remover however, to be fair it did a grand job with little effort. DasPro gets the thumbs up👍
