Halfrauds - anyone dealt with their tire services?

Hi All,

Having my car on stilts I've noticed that front wheel alignment is well off - it is quite worn on inside. Tires were only changed in April and both front tires are quite shot on the inside so alignment is well out, i do like my foot rather heavy but that would not be enough to wear out the tires that fast. - 32£ was paid to Halfords for the alignment when i did the tires and it actually seems worse than what it was before i had it done there - only had one wheel out of alignment so they fixed it by fudging both.

Wondering if i have any hope of a refund or chuck it down to experience leave a fair review and never return - pretty sure i don't want them to have another whirl and set the wheels yet further out of alignment. While logically there is no way they would wear out this quick doubt halfords customer services will have any of it?

I bet they only aligned the front wheels with respect to the rears - the old static laser and mirror kit. If the rears are out for any reason, the fronts then will be, even more so.

Find a tyre place that does the full 4-wheel geometry with a Hunter or John Bean system or similar. These align the wheels (those that can be adjusted) with respect to the centreline of the car. So even if the back can't be adjusted, the fronts will still be in line. You're looking for flags with a black & white triangle pattern to be put on each wheel, which are then scanned by an optical system at the head of the bay as the car is rolled slightly back & forth.

It's not just Halfords, most of the big chains are hopeless when it comes to alignment.

Find someone who uses the Hunter system and get the job done properly:

Funnily rears are perfectly aligned... wearing nice and even. Fronts are though. will bring it to a garage i had old car done before they have the posh system.

Will give a whirl with they customer services anyway i guess - wonder if anyone had the pleasure and if they are the least useful?

i had a 4 wheel alignment done at Kwik Fit of all places and it totally transformed the car
i was very pleased :)

They'll offer to repeat the alignment for you and nothing more.

I'll just leave them a fair review and go elsewhere then, kwikfit do seem to offer the hunter something alignment which i guess is fine will probably go get the front tires done and re-alignment as i think I've seen some package deals recently.

Considering Halfords first re-alignment got the negative camber even worse than it was before (was driving for nearly a year until i had to change tires due to wear on inside of one front wheel now they are at limit on the inside 6 months later)

Another set of treatment from halfords will probably give it that flying delorean look!

Must admit I think its the people that make the difference and not the brand, you can get good and bad service from all different types of providers. So don't discount place X or Y if they have good reviews and even better you get an endorsement from somebody you trust then that should be a good signal.
