Hard Touch replacements?

In a standard A2, what parts are soft touch?

The radio buttons to me seem hard. The light switch fascia and door window switch seems soft. Is this correct? Not sure if the actual window switch is soft touch.

What are the part numbers for the hard touch version of the light switch and door switch fascia?

Hi there, early cars i think first 2 years of production, had hard touch radio window and light switches, later cars had the soft touch. I sure someone may ave par tnumber but look out on Market for people selling ahrd touch, they are sought after.

On an early A2 up to the end of Y-plate (there may be a few late '51 registrations) all the black switchgear is hard-touch - climate/heater controls, headunit, headlights including fascia, windows, ASR & blank, fuel flap & alarm sensor. The cubby hole on an early single-DIN car is also hard-touch. The window switch surrounds in the car's interior colour will be soft-touch so will still wear. On A2's from '51-pate onwards all those hard-touch items went to soft-touch. If you have a mixture, maybe someone has been there before you.

Anyone explain what’s happening here? The dash seems to be lifting up? Do you think it’s because of water or a chemical causing it to expand or just the temperature changes over the years?

It's more likely to be vent not seated correctly. Try using a small flat bladed screwdriver to gently lift it back up into position.

So is the rotary heating control soft touch or hard touch?
I know for sure that the actual control knobs and buttons were soft-touch on later cars because I've got a set sitting here, showing the usual white wear patches. Their fascia would have been the same. I'd be very surprised if the controls were in a different coating from the hard-touch fascia on an early car.

Where do you suggest I try lifting it from? The bottom?

Anyone got a diagram showing how the vent is clipped in so I have an idea on which way to nudge it.

Maybe I can try using a hairdryer to heat the dash and reshape it? ?

There are four spring-out clips, two on each side of the vent. They almost always get broken when the vent is removed. If someone's previously changed the vent due to broken vanes, missing adjuster etc. then possibly it's no longer being held in place properly. But it doesn't really sit flush in photos of many A2 interiors, so I don't think it's really anything to worry about.

Knowing me and my skill of making things worse I’d guess I’ll have to leave it alone.
