Has your A2 got this dent in the engine bay as well?

Hi all, while I've been battling the MAP sensor issue and waiting for the correct part to arrive, I wanted to double-check there's no vacuum leaks at all. Seeing this dent in the box, just on top of the engine(some kind of airbox I guess) got me thinking, as it looks more concave than before, like almost an inch in depth now.

Is it the same on your A2 1.4 petrol? Or that should have a flat top and a vacuum leak might been causing the dent?
Thanks

Could anyone with 1.4 petrol A2 be a star and pop the hood off , to check if that box should have a concave (bent downwards) dent on it, or not? This is the area. Thanks.

I think that’s an AUA engine. Mine is a BBY and it has a different pipe. Someone with a 1.4 AUA will reply soon I’m sure.!

Should be the same on a BBY as that’s just the I intake that goes to the throttle body

Yep it’s suppose to be like this.

Thanks for asking, it's been going on for a month, I done what I could and now only waiting for an actually working MAP sensors to arrive. If that's not the issue after all, I gotta take it to the mechanice.
If you're interested details here:

And with 4 pictures more stuff here:

An interesting, the manifold pressure being off will also cause a braking system fault also normally as it measures vacuum for the braking system. With the throttle warning does this affect the car in anyway, does it go into a limp mode or anything?

If it was me I’d be looking at the throttle body as both these faults could be related to a dodgy throttle body.

I'd cleaned the TB 2 years ago and recalibrated last week. If I find new gaskets on eBay I might clean it again just in case. After cleaning/changing all the bits shows on pictures, the issue just got worse, now the car just stalls after a few minutes idle. Undriveable at the moment.

Sometimes I does throw a "TB Angle Sensor 1 for Throttle Actuator" code or even for the TB sensor 2, but the MAP is always there. I'm waiting for the new MAP sensor to arrive in a few days and if that doesn't fix it I'm gonna clean the TB again. After that I give up and take it to the mechanic. Thanks

I’m not saying it’s 100% this but I would look at replacing the Throttle body but first I would check the wiring to it. But it sound like this maybe your issue as if it’s moving to the wrong position it will throw the MAP error as the pressure will not be what it is expecting. I would also put back on the factory MAP sensor as patient parts are never as good. In my experience chasing an issue like this the MAP sensor sees the symptoms and is rarely the issue.

I've put the normal MAP one back, and I checked all hoses before I changed the oil separator and ordered new sensor. Ice checked wiring too, but I can't see any issue. If its actually the wiring it's under the cover somewhere, which will be nearly impossible to find, as the MAP and TB connectors all looks fine. Cheers

It could be the throttle body itself, I’ve had to replace one on the same engine before.

I bought a cheap Chinese copy to test and it worked, has been running it for 2 years without issue. It did have a breather that needed blocking off and it also won’t complete the alignment but it works. Not saying you do this but it’s an option, if I remember it was £20

I will look into it when the sensor arrives, a good TB cleaning probably would help. Cheers

The MAP sensor looked like this before all the issue started, (right old-left cleaned) do you still think it might still working fine, and the TB is the issue? I had ordered 3 MAP sensors and none of them was the correct one, might be a sign to leave it alone and just clean it with contact cleaner. Thanks
