Headlamp height adjustment motor...

I noticed before setting off to Germany that my one headlamp was aiming higher than the other. It happened just after fitting the new 50% plus Osram bumbs so I though I just did something wrong. Though the one that was aiming too high was the one the dealer had to fit - yes I could not get the bits back together (due to the Webasto's bits being in the way) and they kindly had to remove the entire light to fit the bulb... saying you can only replace the bulb this way, though a previous dealer did it without removing the whole headlight as I watched!

Anyways: take it to a different dealer closer to work to check and they found the RH height adjuster motor was bust. Book it in and £122 later the thing is fixed again... Audi labour is such a rip off! £20 part and the rest was labour!!! And that for something I hardly ever used 3 times in nearly 3 years! grrr... if only it went before the warranty ran out...

Said same dealer also wanted £35 to change the wiper blade during the last service... I paid £14 for the blade (which is a very rare item on Audi parts stores it seems - had to go to 3 dealers before finding one). So £21 in labour for something that takes a total of 4 seconds to replace...

Johann sorry to hear about your troubles!!

The head lamp bulbs i did myself had to remove the whole light but it does make the job a lot easier.
I too have notice a slight beam miss-alignment and the lower of the beams is on the drivers side.
I think this is normal since this reduces the chance of dazzling oncoming traffic.

My dads saab had the same set up.

Regarding the price of labour from Audi for work carried out on your car that was no surprise i too have been bitten by audi prices.

Once bitten twice shy!!

managed to find an independant Audi garage with reasonable prices so no going back to the main dealer.

cheers

Andy: yes I know the lights work like that - hence needing the reflectors when going to Europe, BUT mine was lower on the left and higher on the right!

Now there's a thought. I need to search for a proper independent Audi dealer in London then...
