Headlight help

Hi all,

I recently noticed a bit of moisture in my headlight, prior to washing the car (when I did I made an effort to keep the hose away from the headlights when I did wash it), and since then it's got a lot worse very quickly, I suspect due to the amount of cold and wet weather we've had lately.

Today I have some time to tackle it, and I can't get the headlight off because the connector is stuck on; it's missing the tab, and it's mounting area has been mauled, presumably, by a previous owner.

Given how brittle these tabs are due to the age of our cars, I was wondering if anyone else has had such a problem before, and how they dealt with it?

I'm a bit reluctant to get the pliers out in case I break the connector any further, and it should be said the headlight does still work perfectly, it's just wet inside. It would appear that the drivers side headlight has been replaced before with one from a later car, the passenger side one still has the soft rubber seal around the edge which I would presume is what has failed.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's common for the lights to fog up, I drill 3 x 10 mm holes in the underside of the light to let it equalise. Vastly reduces the issue.
You can get new loom ends to replace the plug. The raised clip on the body of the light sadly no. I have one light were I've reduced the lug side on the light unit to cope with a broken clip on the loom end. I just Wiggle it a bit with screwdriver now to release it. Common issue
