Headlight switch illumination

Could anyone confirm please if the marker line on the headlight rota dial switch should actually light up?

Yes, it illuminates along with the "sun" light symbol. In fact it is on all the time from when the ignition key is turned, but you don't notice it in the day time.

Thinking about this a bit more. Without hacking a switch to pieces I do not know if the line has its own source of illumination, it is not very bright and may be just picking up light down the inside of the tunnel finger grip from the bright "sun" light symbol.
