headlight switch

As per the pic of the head light switch can I just ask this random question, I have this Headlight switch but i don't have any front fogs, there's not even the space for them in the front bumper but this headlight switch does allow me to pull out once but for what reason as I don't have front fog lights, only back fogs which is a further pull out, so I'm a little confused as to why i have it & why it illuminates on the first pull?

Thanks Again

Evening Nathan,

Yes that does look to be the correct light switch for an A2 with Front Fogs.

At a guess there is 2 possible reasons why you have this switch in your A2 which doesn’t have said Front Fogs:

1. The switch was replaced as the original one was worn/lacking in the soft touch paint department and a previous owner just fitted the incorrect switch.

2. Your A2 once has Front Fogs and some one has removed them but left the switch.

Someone with more experience will be along soon to help you understand if there is another reason.

The Front Fogs fit in the front bumper and you will have the blanking covers fitted. These covers are removed and replaced with fog light covers as part of the retrofit. It’s worth popping these covers off to see if someone has left you the wiring behind so you can quickly fit a set that are often available from a resident breakers.

Kind regards,

Tom

You might want to pull the covers either side of the lower grille and see if you do actually have fog lights lurking underneath them. If it doesn't appear to have them then it can't fail an MOT on one or both not working.

So really you have 2 options. Remove the covers and fit the front fogs if not just covered over (why?) or second replace the light switch for a non front fog one. If the lights are there then it can fail the MOT for incorrect light pattern. The dual fog ( front and rear ) version of the switch is more common.
