Hello there,

I have yet to encounter an A2 that isn't pre-wired for heated mirrors (although there is always a first time!).

It isn't a dealer fit, but you should execise caution and common sense when removing the old mirror glass, obviously.

The parts are available from Vagparts.com

Cheers,

Mike

Hi All

Just fitted heated mirrors using a2oc guide ,parts was from Vagpart.com :)

very easly fiitted in half hour for both mirrors

Blimey you're demanding aren't you £26 for RHD heated glass passenger sided and £33 for RHD drivers side mirror, costs more as it has a shaped bulgy glass thing to cure blind spot. Easy to fit, come on when the heated rear window is switched on www.vagparts.com

ta very much all. just sent for the discount card and had a look at the vagparts site. she will be pleased now.

Anyone ordering from the Vagparts site and wanting the A2OC discount MUST register with them prior to placing the order.

It is no good just phoning up and saying that you are an A2OC member - can I have my discount please!

They will soon stop ALL our discounts if this keeps happening.

The correct procedure is to drop them an email first, stating that you are an A2OC member, together with your membership number and then await their reply, which will contain a registration for their store. When you use this login, you will then automatically see the discounted prices.

Cheers,

Mike

Hi, I have also been thinking about fitting the heated mirrors and had a look today at whether I could. After reading all the threads and taking the mirror out, which I'm annoyed to say I broke:eek: , I am still unsure as to whether I can:confused: . I have taken a picture for ease of reference. I need a new mirror either way but heated is preferred, especially now! Any advice would be appreciated.

Yes, you can fit heated mirrors to the car - see those two little black wires with black plastic plugs on the end of them in the top left hand side of the photo?

They're the wires you need to hook up and then they come on with the rear screen heater.

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks for your advice, I was hoping the black wires had something to do with it, now to order the part, thankfully I have my A2OC discount card registered with VAG Parts so I will be saving myself some money. regards Damien

heated mirrors fitting is easy!

hello all, bought the heated mirrors, took all advice, removed the bottom cover of the mirror surround with the torx bit, and electrically moved the mirror so I could put my fingers around the right edge of the glass as you look at the mirror, which was easier than I thought having big hands.

I then used a jewellers flat ended screwdriver, very small useful tools, and from where I had taken the bottom cover of the mirror off, i put the screwdriver in prising very gently between the small round lug and the back of the mirror, whilst with my left hand I had my fingers round the right edge of the glass gently pulling on the mirror. As I could see the area where I had put the screwdriver had parted slightly, I took the screwdriver out and moved it to another area (towards the car) between the mirror and the lugs holding it on. Applied the same gentle pressure and the mirror popped off.

I took my time, didn't break the mirror and it was off in about 2 minutes.

Applied a little grease as the advice told me and attaching the leads (I almost forgot!!) I then positioned the mirror and pushing with a little heavier pressure felt it ease into place, with a bit of a grating sound.

Done. thanks all for info
