heated seats?

I have 2x A2s, one has heated light sand color cloth seats. Not a fan of the color.

Question is do the seats all have the elements in them? can I fit my other dark seats, that are non heated... or would it not have the element in the seat?

Only seats taken from A2's which were ordered with seat heating have elements fitted. It is possible to change the seat material from seat to seat. I've done this several times and whilst doing this the passenger side can be changed for the driver's side. This is a great benefit because the wear areas are then transposed. There will be a lot of information about this on the forum. Just use the search facility

Oh ok then it's not worth the bother, you answered the question that only cars specced with heated seats will have the elements fitted.

I’m interested in switching the seats over…how did this affect the airbags? Wouldn’t they face each other over the centre console if switched?

Yes, I've made an error in what I've said! I've changed the BASES over but not the back-rests! I've worked out that they could still be changed over but there would have to be an empty air-bag holder and cover to do this. That means that each seat would have a cover on both sides of the seat. I think that that would still look O.K.. I did have it in mind to do this but events overtook me. There's probably other ways to do this. The requirement is to cover a hole in each seat where the airbag had been. Sewing a leather patch or making a suitable cover are two possible ways around this, I think ... It IS do-able!

Unless there are air bag recesses on both sides of the seat backs swapping the fronts over will still mean the airbags are on the inside of each seat and no longer protecting impact in the door area. The rake adjuster wheels would now be on the outsides of the seats.

The recess is just a plastic "dish" complete with a cover. It's easy to move it to the other side of the seat. That then leaves a hole to be attended too .... Hence the need for another empty dish/cover, etc .....
