Hello Everyone,

On Saturday I took delivery of a lovely Mauritius Blue 05 plate A2 TDI 90 with Open Sky. It 6 months old, done 4700 miles and I love it. It's a bit of a difference from my old wheels ( A RenaulSport Clio 182!) but that's exactly what I wanted. I paid £13500 froma $tealer - good buy or bad buy? It was their loan car for servicing. Its in mint condition though, all alloys unkerbed, etc, etc.

Unfortunately, it is without a couple of options that I wanted (DIS, Bose) so I may try my hand at adding them....I will keep you informed.

Good forum you have hear, not as active as some others I have contributed to in the past, but still a very handy place to exchange ideas, information and laughs!

Cheers

Simon

Welcome to the world of A2 ownership.

Expect some new life to be injected into these forums in the coming weeks.

Yes, welcome on board!

If you want to retro-fit Bose, give me a shout - I've done it to mine. DIS is an entirely different kettle of fish and not really achievable, at least not at a decent price.

NOW : A2 TDi 90 Sport, OpenSky, winter pack, ISOfix, all-round fogs, climate control, all-round electric windows, Blaupunkt Woodstock DAB54, genuine HID xenons and red leather! I have read your post about retro-fit of Bose. How much did it cost you? Is all the wiring in place, or do you need to run cables around the car? I think I will have to get a set of those workshop manuals form you as well, BTW....

Cheers

The wiring is a complete nightmare!

In theory, all the cables are already in place, you just need to remove them from the old amp connector, put them into their new positions in the Bose amp connector, run a speaker lead to the sub in the boot and robert's your fathers brother!

Now this does indeed work for the factory head-unit, after it has been recoded with VAG-COM to tell it to work in Bose mode. If you have an aftermarket system like mine though (Woodstock DAB 54) then it needs a complete new power and earth harness installing, which is not a 2 minute job!

If you want the manuals, no probs, but bear in mind that I'm away now for 10 days so will be unable to sort you out in the interim.

Welcome to A2 land Simon. I'm pretty new here myself (just over 3 weeks since taking delivery) and it's a good place to be. On the Bose front, I had the pleasure of sampling the delights of Skipton's Bose on Saturday down at Audi Driver Internatonal at Castle Combe and I can definitely say it'd be worth the effort retro-fitting it - definitely adds that extra dimesion if you're into your music. Currently considering doing mine.

Hey, diarise the 2006 Audi Driver event as soon as the date is known and we'll see you there...

Is the Bose system that much better?! I've just put a Concert CD in our car - with just the front speakers and I think it sounds great for a standard factory fit. Maybe my ears need educating....

I can certainly recommend Skipton's workshop manual CDs, very helpful and written for idiots, unfortunately the means of getting around the info was written by idiots. However, nevertheless and notwithstanding, at the end of the day , know what I mean, yeah, it all clicks into place and you can navigate it.

Bose in the A2 includes rear speakers - which the standard fit doesn't.

I have an A4 with the standard concert based system, and although it's very good for factory fit - the Bose in our A2 is another level, so if you like your music in the car, try and get it. I now wish I spec'd Bose in the A4 when we ordered it :(

My A2 has the Concert II CD and has the 8 speaker set up but no Bose. Just having the rears makes a notable difference to the sound but, whilst the bass response is satisfactory for a standard set up, listening to Skipton's Bose made me realise exactly how much bass my set up lacks. It's quality bass rather than loud bass and simply provides a fuller sound. I'm assuming that another similarly rated active sub would also spice up the standard sound no end. The benefit of going Bose is its integration within the underboot space in the A2 with no intrusion into the load space.

You certainly make it sound attractive, Dubbsy! I wonder if I spend enough time in the A2 to really warrant the hassle, though....

You Bose it!*

The factory fitted Bose installation is a joy to behold for anyone who's into their music. Cars like this, don't sound like this...normally.

Most people who've ever ridden with me cannot believe the sound quality and after 3 years of ownership, it's still one of my favourite features of the car. But then I do like my music.

As for spending enough time in the car. Every journey becomes a pleasure when you can envelope yourself in beautiful music.

Of course, you may get mistaken for a member of The Goldie Lookin' Chain if you pump it out round town. ;)

*As the GLC might say.

lol... there's no way you can be mistaken to be cruisin' when you have Depeche Mode turned up to 30

look out, Dad reliving youth coming through! ... good thing about an A2 is you can have a mid life crisis without anybody realising - in a TT it'd be a different matter :D

So that's what's happening to me... couple of dinky kids, got rid of the estate, A2's got skirts on and I lay awake at night pondering bass levels and tweeter positions and whether to go iPod or MP3 changer...
