Help - boot catch

Having one of those bad days of A2 ownership when everything seems to be going wrong. Cannot release oil filter for the life of me despite right tools, not can I release the earthing strap from starter motor for some preventative maintainence!

Main issue is boot will not open. Solenoid working fine. Been in boot and the release leaver on the trim does not work. Removed trim and lubricated catch to no effect. Removed bolts securing the lock to boot and removed bolts holding eyelet to the car. Have the two parts of the lock out now, but for the life of me I cannot manuallu persuade the lock to come undone. Driving me mad. Any ideas?

Just will not come apart. Tried moving the small lever that the solenoid pulls but does nothing. Is there s way to open with screwdriver?

Hopefully someone will give you the answer to your problem, can't understand why no one has really.
Sorry, I can't help you

Have you solved the problem? I have a spare lock here once you remove yours, I'm wondering if you power it up will it open for you? Not tried it myself, if I get chance later I'll give it a try to see what happens!

It has to be simple and everyone likes a good puzzle.

No suggestions except...

1. Wondering if the large upstand trim is removed (easy enough, three screws) and the lock is small enough to pass through its aperture then probably the lock can be unbolted from the body with a flat spanner. Just for more the convenience of getting inside and putting in a vice if you have to cut it off.

2. More pictures with lock at different angles, I can't really see what's going on.

Thanks All,
Yes, I removed the upstand trim in the boot and unbolted the boot lock and the receiving eyelet from the floor of the car. The picture above (poor image sorry) shows the jammed boot lock still bound around the eyelet with the upstand trim from the boot between the two. Sadly cannot pass the lock through the hole cut in the trim. Tried and tried to separate the three parts but to no avail despite use of small screw driver and lots of silicone spray. No indication that lock was failing. Working presumption is that maybe some of the plastic coating on the boot latch hook has come off and jammed the mechanism. If I cannot sort I will need a new boot lock + receiving eyelet for it to latch onto plus a new upstand trim for the rear of boot that covers the lock. Keen to avoid if possible. If only I could get the boot latch to unlock!

VCDS scan. Was the emergency release connected? Have you tried pulling there on the lock? You still need the electrical connections in the lock. Dis showing open or shut? More pictures of the inside of the hatch with the trim off, the emergency cable and how it was routed, the release solenoid and its connecting rod to the lock and the wiring plug.

Thanks, a lot clearer now.

All I can suggest is pull the release lever and keep it pulled while encouraging the hook to retreat with pin nosed pliers or slotted screwdriver, but you've probably tried this.

If need be, surely you can now cut off the eyelet, seems a pity to write off the trim.

If you need a new boot lock and receiver I have them on current breaker.
I'm intrigued as to why its holding on tight....at least we know they work well!!!!!!

Surely you don't need electrical connections, otherwise the emergency cord wouldn't be of much use with a flat battery?

Just been to look at the one off my shelf, it looks like your lock is goosed, this one opens easily once clicked into the closed position....
As RAB says, it should be nothing to do with the battery...excuse my earlier comment about powering it up, that must only be the link to show it as open or locked on the dash...
