Help Needed Please

Hi Everyone

I was hopeing that i get some help please..
I own a 2002-02 A2 1.4 Diesel which drives like a dream but the problem that i have is that when i go over bumps i can here a slight bumping thumping sound from the front suspension its kind of a knocking noice..I thought that it may have been that the shocks were knackered so i replaced all for shocks and then also replaced the anti role bar rods aswell but the noice is still there.. I really dont know what it could be as its really driving me crazy :-(

Any help will be so greatly appreciated
 
Could be either one of the droplinks (or both even),
I dont know how to do links on here so if you do a search for drop links then this may help(they are not hard to replave aparently).
otherwise one of the "guru's" will be along soon Im sure.
 
I've got a feeling you've got a screw loose!

I'm not insulting you, but I've seen this before (Richard-) where there is at least 1 screw, usually the one in the wheel arch area. This causes the undertray to bang on the chassis of the car when bumos are taken. On flat level roads, there is rarely a problem, so no noises are heard.

Many thanks for your help..regarding the drop links i have replaced both sides aswell and i have already checked the undertray for any movement but nothing..

Just a thought Do the suspension have any rubber bump stops?

I am completly lost for ideas?

The Noise is like the sound when shocks are knackered but that aint the case as they are all brand new..You can here it when you go over bumps or drive on a bit of a rough road kind of thump thump noise
 
There is a section of the undertray that extends way up to the inside of the wheel arch and is secured by a 6mm hex headed bolt. Please put full lock on and check that these bolts are in place - they weren't on one A2 I've come across with the same noise problem.

knocking noise going over bumps

Check your anti roll bar bushes.Probably knackered.I did the same replaced shocks,drop links etc started to think about bottom ball joints when I noticed arb bushes were hangin out:eek:Ahh well shocks were duff so was drop link ;)
