Could anyone help me, I’m having issues removing the flanges from a MYP gearbox the old a2 ones came out without issues! Those that have down the mod could you shine any light on where I may be going wrong?

When I changed mine the flanges pulled out easily after removing the central Allen head bolt. This was hidden under black moly grease.

Hi Big dog,

Well I have discovered the issue, look at the state of this gearbox, it looks like liquid metal why someone would do this I have no idea! Have contacted the seller on eBay

Could be a trick of the light but looks like copper grease in the first photo. Are parts actually broken or worn so far as you can tell or is it just stuff that will wipe away with a rag?
It’s possible water has entered this MYP ‘box and turned the oil to an emulsion.

It took a slide hammer and ages to get them off just couldn’t believe what was found.

This is side by side with the one out of the a2 box

Not good news, hope seller recognises that the gearbox is not good. Best of luck getting it sorted.

The seller will not refund as it’s been more than a month since I bought it, really annoyed to be honest, if it was installed on a car it would have lasted minutes!

If you bought the gearbox from a dealer then this may offer some good advice:

Good luck.

Was this MYP from an individual as a one-off or a scrappy / gearbox recovery & refurbishment place with a few of these advertised? Ie - was it stated as being refurbished / renovated, or was it sold as seen? I've been looking myself and would prefer to avoid this sort of thing if possible

It wasn’t sold as seen, it was sold used it wasn’t refurbished. I’ve just bought a refurb off some guys in Birmingham so I’ll let you know what that is like!

McCoys of Crossmaglen are registered as a business seller on eBay, which may well help in getting a partial refund off PayPal, although it will probably take some time.

Are DS Cars in Oldbury the suppliers of your refurb?

Interesting how did you work out who I bought them off? Or did I share it? Very impressed by the way!
