hi there im new to this forum and to an a2

Can any one help me with identifing these parts i have taken photos of.

Welcome!
Is your car a diesel? Is it older than 2003?
It looks to me like the Webasto auxiliary heater -this is a little diesel-powered heater that runs when it's rather chilly outside to help give you heat in the cabin and warm up the car/engine whilst the engine itself warms up...

Dan

Ps - in 2003 models it was replaced by an electric heater.
pps - it'll produce a small exhaust plume under the car from infront of the front drivers-side wheel when it runs - I think it comes on when the ambient temperature falls to below 6C...

hi its a desiel 1.4tdi had an bump at the frount drivers side and carnt find where it goes . I think there is some kind of caseing missing because i can see an air intake hole and broken plastic around it. its a 52 plate 2003 sport could do with some front end pics with bumper off many than for reply sam

Hi, the bit I think you are looking for is attached to the undertray (if you have one fitted). The pipe that hangs down is exhaust not intake. No pics but here is the number De 8Z0261125. I dont know if this is Audi part number or Webasto ?

not sure if i have one fitted dont think it will reach to the undertray??.
The pipe that hangs down is under the wheel arch, i have unbolted this to get a close picture thanx sam

Looks like your engine undertray is missing?
The main part of the Webasto unit lives in the top left of the engine bay as you look at it from above - ie. above the driver's side front wheel. The exhaust pipe should run down, connect to the undertray (it has a fitting and a hole in it to permit exhaust) and vent directly under the car.

Thanx very much for the info will have to try and find a undertray from some where. Does it matter if it is not connected to the undertray, what about the hole with broken plastic around it ? if i put my hand over it i can feel suction like it is an intake?? not the metal box and pipe but near it .Any one no any audi a2 breakers thanx in reply
