Heu - Misano Colour Storm TDi 75, OSS

If you mean how long will that £10 bottle last probably the rest of this year at least I would imagine.

If you mean how does it last once applied, I imagine I would reapply to tyres once per week and for the trim etc at least a month before I'll be doing it again while the weather is nice :)

Scored these on eBay earlier this evening for £62! Nice and local and will make good winter wheels once I add some appropriate tyres :)

Morning!

Been out early today for a couple of quick jobs.

First up, replace front passenger door check strap with one from Mr Depronman as the creaking makes me cringe every time the wife gets in and out of the car! o_O

Door card off, thought I was going to pull the whole door off though!

Old check strap off to return to Depronman

New check strap fitted with the nice brass rollers and 3d printed part (I presume)

The keener eyed among you will notice at this point I have not replaced the rubber dust cover that goes in the hinge side of the door jam, so yes, I had to remove the pin and refit that at this point! :p

Next, fit my A2OC plate holders

Nice brand new plates and the holders are really nice quality, I just had to tentatively remove a front screw that had completely corroded with pliers without breaking the head off and I had both changed in a few minutes.

I collected the Pepperpot alloys a few days ago and they're safely tucked up in the garage till later in the year when I'll have new tyres fitted for the bad weather. Apologies for the poor pictures, my phone doesn't seem to work well if the sun is in the frame and also doesn't seem to like the colour red!

Right, it's about time I started selling a few things...!

I had a visit from @timmus last night and Heu is now fitted with Komfortblinker, Cruise Control and a @depronman remap :)

Tom also released the sports front seats from Bert along with the wiring loom for the electric lumbar support and I can now look for a suitable vehicle trimmers to re-trim them to red Colour storm spec from the 4 donor seats I have available, can anyone recommend a company who I should consider for this job?

Tomorrow I will get a date for the paint shop to take care of all four arches, am I correct in thinking the paint code for the flat black bits on a CS is 3FZ, or perhaps L1P9 ??

I just ordered an Xcarlink bluetooth streaming device that connects to the stereo and will still allow the CD changer to be used, on Tom's recommendation :)

Today I stripped the offside rear wheel arch off Heu and dropped it off at the painters. Not a bad job to do and only took about 20mins or so.

I don't quite know how it came to be this way, as there is no physical damage, perhaps it was a pressure washer from a hand car wash or something.

Car jacked, arch liner dropped, allowing access to the T25 bolts that secure it to the body. Some of the arch liner T25 bolts were a little corroded on the threads so I'll take the opportunity to order a full set from Crew Audi, ready for refitting.

Arch off. Plenty of cleaning to do behind the liner etc, and I'll get around to the others in the coming weeks.

Arch liner back in place and wheel on etc. Heu will be living on the drive for the next week while the arch is painted. Looks like from the research I've done that the paint code for the Colour Storm is L1P9 Schwartz :) He will be ready for before AITP, can't wait!

Right, next jobs today are change a rear light cluster over from Bert and fit a handbrake tray I've had for ages! :)

Wow. That looks straight-forward enough. Do all the A2 arches come off as single pieces or just colour storm arches?

I presume it's the same for all A2's, but only the rear arches unfortunately, the front are integral to the wing panel :(

Brilliant. Thanks. My rear arches are pretty scuffed from inconsiderate peeps in car parks and I think the previous owner (Mr Warburton) likes to dribble his diesel because there is a lot of etching of clear coat.

Be easier to take it off and fix I think.

In my experience Alex it's luddites letting the petrol cap swing on the bodywork that causes major damage to paint!

My CS offside rear arch has the exact same problem in pretty much the exact same place. I am undecided as to whether to repaint as factory or take the opportunity to paint all the arches in Misano Red, leaving the rest of the CS black details as factory . . I've spent the best of part of a year trying to decide!

the rears unbolt the fronts are part and parcel of the wing, however I have had great success in masking into the crease line and painting only the arch on the front wings (assuming there is no paint damage to the rest of the front wing)
not worth doing on the rear arches as they are so easily removed to prep and paint of the car

I'm actually pleased that mine won't be able to do that any more, because I found yesterday that the joining strap had snapped! Although I'm sure I'll regret it when the inevitable happens and I forget about the filler cap sitting on the spoiler ...

Be ultra careful using the car jack to work on your car - they are really designed for emergency use and are rarely that stable. Much better to get a trolley or bottle jack and some axle stands.

Simon.

I always sit mine on top of the fuel cap cover like a good boy but the etching extended from cap lip down to tyre. Very messy.

I actually cheated and just sprayed a layer of clear lacquer straight onto the existing damage and it’s actually made it look fabulous.

No pictures today but I managed to fit an XCarLink easily enough, and a brand new wiper arm, courtesy of Crew Audi.

Receiving the arch back from the paint shop in the next few days, just in time for AITP :)
