So tonight….. was travelling at about 60mph going up a hill and decided to give the fizzy some workout… floored the accelerator and the eml started flashing on and off (was pleased with this as the eml has been on since I bought it) with a little hesitation on the engine. After the hill I settled down to 65 and everything was fine. With another 35 miles to home decided to take it steady. A couple of miles from home the fizzy did not want to go above 3k and stalled at the traffic lights (much to everyon’s annoyance). Got car home, left if for 1/2 hour and it started fine (took bonnet of and could not see anything amiss)…. on the motorway thought I could smell a little burning, but that might be paranoia?? Have decided that the fizzy can stay local for the time being whilst I put some miles on my keeper (noooooo).
So do not have VCDS yet (on my to get list) having spent £1000 on spare parts or new parts for the 1.4 (not replaced yet), I wondered what is wrong with fizzy….. I am pondering spending £££s for a new timing belt etc as it has done 2800 miles since early September…. And it has impressed. If it is coil packs/injections then I think it is worth a trip to garage. Any thoughts A2ers?
