Highest mileage A2?

Good evening all!
As Alison is making her way towards 238,000 miles- 113,000 miles of which I've not replaced her clutch- we're wondering what Audi A2 has the highest mileage here?

Because of Lockdown, Alison has been taking me to and from work because the Public Transport is deemed so dangerous, masks are required...

I'd much rather take advantage of the cheaper fuel and personal space... ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ˜Ž ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Alison is pictured with her newest friend that I was privelidged to drive recently. The bus is a rare all Leyland Titan RTW from 1949. I got straight out of Alison and I drove that! Just as much fun!

I've just ticked over 101k in my 1.4 petrol, not bad for a 17 year old motor.
Morning.

If maintained well it will easily double that mileage. My 03 1.4 BBY got to 257k miles in February. The only engine works carried out was change the clutch at 220k miles along with the brake servo around a similar time.

They really are great engines.

Kind regards.

Mine's on 257,000 now and it was the original clutch up to 224,000 miles.

Did you have a mishap in Feb, or what happened?

My old blue a2 did 330k on the original clutch. However they werenโ€™t my miles.

Morning to you both,

What finally gave up (commuting home back in February) on my 257โ€™000 mile 1.4 Petrol BBY was one of the tensioners or main pulleys seized and stripped part of the belt of teeth.

The engine cut out and due to the hyper mileage I wasnโ€™t prepared to spend any money to investigate a repair. I had already seen the stripped teeth all over the engine bay and decided to get another commuter.

The timing belt and tensioners werenโ€™t due for renewal until later this year based on mileage. Time was not an issue either as Iโ€™m replacing these items every 2-3 years due to the high mileage I commute. I never opt for cheap parts and the work is carried out by a local independent that I have used for some time and trust.

It was a dark time but happier now as j progress with Project OEM.

Kind regards,

Tom

Ooo thatโ€™s a real shame so the engine itself was not at fault! What was the mileage on the tensioner?

Hello Ed,

I cannot remember the exact mileage on the belt, tensioners and water pump at the time of failure. I know that they were to due to reach 60k in August and would have been replaced at that time.

It was a shame as it was a very well presented A2 with plenty of refinements. All of which are now in Project OEM, less for the headlamp washer bumper as I donโ€™t have the spare funds to get it recoloured right now.

Kind regards,

Tom
