Hi.
I have developed a horible grinding/rubbing noise from the front fright wheel.

Its pressent at all ranges of speed, but seems to get a lot less when car has warmed up.

I was getting this noise not so bad a few weeks ago. I guessed it was the pads and disks but saw Mike a week or so ago and he replaced the disks and pads.

I dont know much about macanics, what else would make this sort of noise?

Thanks

David

Hi David,

Well, I didn't notice anything amiss when I did your brakes, but there could be a bearing on the way out I suppose. However, failing bearings normally are quiet up to around 15-20mph and then the noise starts quite suddenly.

The other option is a trapped stone between the disc and splash shield - it'll have stopped when I changed the discs (and a heck of a lot of stuff dropped out you'll agree) and if you've now got something else in there, this will explain why the noise has started again.

It's possible to free any obstacle by pushing the splash shield away from the disc, you can do this without removing the wheel.

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks Mike

I will check the spash shield tomorow.

I hope its not a bearing! Sounds expensive.
