Rough price for an RNS-E (that's what Audi calls the OEM satnav - radio, navigation system) is about £350-400, but you MUST buy an A6 (pre-facelift) one, or it won't integrate with the A2 properly.

They never actually made one for the A2 either, before you ask!

You can have a closer look at mine if you like, but be warned, you will want one afterwards!

Cheers,

Could she still play CDs?
Absolutely - but not at the same time as using the sat-nav, as the dvd/cd slot is taken up by the savigation disc.

However, there are also 2 sd card slots, which can take 2Gb cards each, so you can put a load of music on there instead.

You can also hook up an external changer too, or as I have done, an iPod, giving you the ultimate in choice.

Cheers,

Mike

I was given a demonstration of Mike's RNS-E, and I was caught by the bug. Despite it taking me nearly 12 months, I'm proud to say that mine is now installed - complete with new double-DIN dash board (not for the faint hearted, I can tell you!). This is how she looked at the "half way" point.

Many thanks to Mike for helping with some of my more weird questions over the last year.

Took a while, but definitely worth it!

Could someone link me to the actual thing I need to buy :)

Like a current Ebay link, as I see 'pre-2002' and post 2002. Is 2002 the facelift date?

@ alanB, god that looks painful.

It took me the best part of 7 hours to dismantle, then double that to put it back together! I was working slowly, and it was my first time. Skipton can probably knock out a dash swap in a couple of hours.

There's a part of me that wishes I'd bought a double-DIN car in the first place ... but I didn't know then what I know now ...

Not quite Alan, about 5-7 hours start to finish.

I can empathise with your thoughts on the double DIN dash. If I were ordering again, I'd have that, heated seats and headlamp washers.

Cheers,

Mike

Must have felt good though having done what you did, having to take everything apart to upgrade to rns-e, then putting it all back together again. The finished result must make you proud.
