How remove battery?

All sorted, thanks guys - quite easy in the end with the right tools. Took a moment to figure out that you needed the ignition on to reset the one touch windows. It fires up much more happily now.
But here’s the strangest thing. I took the car for a spin, and the temperamental gearchange seems to have been transformed. In particular, whereas before there was a 50-50 chance of getting it into reverse without a lot of brute force suddenly now it slipped in perfectly with no effort at all, on several attempts. This was the most striking thing but also the changes in forward gears (between 3 and 4 was pretty sticky) also seem better. This makes no sense at all and really can’t be anything to do with a new battery... can it???
