How to drain oil?

18 months and only about 4500 miles after a Longlife service my car is telling me it needs an oil change. No doubt due to virtually all its journeys being short local ones.

Anyway, being an experienced DIY mechanic I thought I'd check how easy it would be to do an oil change myself. I consulted my Elsawin manual, but it isn't clear on how you drain the oil (1.4 TDi75). It tells you how to extract with a pump (which I don't have and have no intention of buying) but in the section on draining it only covers how to remove the filter. So either the filter housing is at the lowest point and you can drain all the oil through it, or they have simply not bothered to mention conventional draining via a sump plug. Unfortunately the diagrams provided don't help much.

Can anyone confirm how to drain the oil? If it's been mentioned before, apologies, but if I try to search for "oil change" I'm told that "oil" is too short a search term and so it only searches on "change"!

TIA

Hi Mark
There is a drain plug in the sump which is easily accessible once the big plastic engine bay undertray is removed
