How to get a dashboard to Australia

They won’t let you in either - I have Aussie friends in Singapore and even they are not allowed to enter the country at the moment without a very good reason such as losing the right to live in their host country (eg. because of work permit expiry etc.)
This is true, though wholly academic, I suspect. I can't imagine @gazzah is about to fly me to Australia, nor are Qantus about to allow me onto an aircraft with a dashboard. :D:p

At one point in this sorry saga, I did seriously consider taking 'er indoors to visit her cousin in Helensburgh as a subtle subterfuge to get her to allow me to bring it back, but Qantas is onto it and the excess baggage charge would have been even higher than the stupidly expensive freight prices I've been quoted. Why, oh why didn't Audi make that centre bit demountable?

Don't think I haven't entertained the idea, but even if someone did attempt the trip, WA is perhaps the safest place in this Covid ravaged world, with no community transmission of the disease and no deaths for over a year and we are very serious about keeping it that way, our border security is very tight, and the only people let in are a trickle of returning ex-pats. Everyone that does make it into the country must mandatorily quarantine in selected hotels for a minimum of 14 days at their own expense. Kinda makes exorbitant freight pale into insignificance by perspective

I've always had good service from A8parts on Ebay. Make them an offer, they have accepted all mine. If you want an address in the UK, you can send it to me in Leeds and i'll forward. If you want a black dash @timmus will be changing mine soon so will have a spare which you can have.
Thanks for the offer, the problem still remains the freight cost, but at least that would bring the overall cost down a bit. In the course of trying to repair the crack it was found that the central binnacle is black ABS which is just painted, so I suppose a black dash could be painted anyway to match the rest of the cream interior. If all else fails I may take you up on this?

Tom, @2work has had some great success spraying the interior with Volico paints

Evening Steve,

Volico paint really is great stuff. They are able to provide Platinum, Soul and Twist. Unfortunately they do not offer Jive.

I am yet to find a perfect Jive colour match but think Furniture clinic are getting close so I can recolour an A1 MFSW. Their paint might even be good enough for plastic but to fully answer this question I will do some testing with some spare trim panels.

Kind regards,

Tom
