How to remove gearbox amf tdi

Hello!

Trying to remove my ewq gearbox from my amf tdi 2002.

The whole lump is on the drive sat on wood so a bit tricky. So far I've removed about 5 or 6 bolts.

Can some one help with a diagram to show me where all the bolts are so I can be sure I've got them all out.

Then I'll need help with how to separate the two!
So far with a torch in my mouth, kneeling on gravel and having a german sheperd sat two inches from me at all.times it's been fun :)

Thanks

Hello Edd,

Does the online manual assist in anyway Sir:

Kind regards,

Tom

Seeing as the whole lot is on the floor Edd, it would just be a case of removing the starter motor and then working your way around the bell housing removing each bolt.

Mark each bolt with a numbering system relative to marks on the bell housing so you know which bolt goes where on re-assembly.

Thank you for the help. I think Ive got them all, was hoping to see a diagram of all the relevant bolts around it as bottom ones are hard to see and some faced the other way. Peering under neath through block of wood is tricky! I think there were two under neath, two incorporating the starter design two at the top and one round the back by the drive shafts coupling.

Looks like it dowels together too so won't fall apart then, I will need to pull it apart like a kinder egg, will try and drift it apart some how tonight. Will it be hard to take apart? Saw a video and it seemed to come off easy in that.

As said, undo the drive flange on the drivers side makes life a lot easier.
I use a piece of wood to make a bridge between the front panel and the panel under the screen, and use a ratchet strap to hang the box from, plus bit’s of wood to slide under the box. The strap can be used to winch the box up, and it’ll hang in virtually the right place to slot back in

Thanks drew I have it alone the floor engine and gearbox already out just need to separate the two. Think is seven bolts around the gearbox to the engine, just wanted to be sure I haven't missed any underneath. Thats because I can't lift it other than 3 inches it supported off the ground. Ive got one out form underneath but some parts hard to get to hence wanting a bolt diagram so I can see where they are :)

me too, the ratchet strap approach works well.
