Hydro' Carbon Engine Clean

Hello!

Was out today to give this Hydrocleaning a shot.

Normally a £99 thing but I got it for £50.

I'll report back after a week to see if this has done anything for my 122k FSI.

I am a little skeptical, and from what I have read "Sea Foam" does seem to have more evidence of results.

Has anyone else had experiance with this?

It definitely does something, it lightens your wallet. It has also been proven that placebo can have a positive impact on human health though I'm less certain about cars. ?
Curious to know if this works too, as you may have guessed I suspect it's snake oil.

I have a friend who does this for a living and I have researched it thoroughly. I have had it done to my car and initially there is an improvement but I also think it is expensive snake oil. Another point is through time engines accrue crud and it gets into all the wee seams and actually helps seal weaker areas/seams and opening these areas up can reveal weaknesses and possibly cause leaks.

From what I have read it should not clear up crud anyway, its good for carbon deposits at best but not anything oily. (If by crud you mean oily residue)

For the more stubborn build ups I will use "SeaFoam"

I am trying not to fall into any placebo, I think I have a good eye for when it comes between good marketing and/or good results. At least hope I do!!

So far still hear some light knocking on idle, and no tangible change noticed.

Side Note: The guy that did it to my car seemed to have limited knowledge about cars, I had to actually help him with some minor things. I quizzed him a little on the 'MAS' and 'Throttle Body' as well as the 'Air Intake Vacuum Pipe'. I asked him about the carbon clean process and how it worked, I just got it puts in gas that burns at high temperature - which cleans up your engine. I got no other info from him to reassure me on his 'marketing'. His main custom was from rich boy racers.

I'll keep this short.

I have seen next to zero if anything at all change in how my car engine ticks over after the Carbon Clean.

Seafoam was used yesterday and this morning I had the best cold start and steadiest idle speed since I purchased the car.
Was great to see!

New spark plugs and filters tomorrow.

"Snake oil" ?
