If my A2 can borrow the drive from this Polo Blue GT...

Well having come from Straight 6 Vauxhalls and a V12 BMW in the past, even the manufactures quickly change recommendations from Lifetime, to 80k and then 40k.

I know they're bigger engines, but still, I get through chains on my pushbike. Again, I know it's different, but nothing lasts forever.

It is precisely because of chain drive problems I always preferred shaft driven motorbikes, much more reliable and efficient way of transferring power. I even recall a shaft drive bicycle from the distant past.

VW vr6 models have been known to fail around 100K.
Its usually the chain guide then the chain.
Theres myres of info over at the corrado forum.

Brother has a 3.2 Vauxhall same again, chain guides failing.

My vw/audi independant reckons the kevlar belts they fit now are good for 80k
