I'm being Stealth re-mapped next week!

At long last my car is going to join the hallowed legion of Stealth re-mapped A2's
:D

I'd promise Vince that when I had the car serviced I'd have the re-map done, however the service has come up a lot sooner than I'd intended (1600 mile early) due to a small oil leak that I want looking at. So I thought 'sod it' I'll have a full service, oil leak fix and re-map please (and some other small checks/fixes).

So first thing on Monday on my way to work I shall be dropping the little rascal off at Vinces place and then on Tuesday I should have a much improved A2. :D

Can't wait. :)
 
I am green with envy, I have yet to get to Vince for my remap. Just in the process of moving house, so I need to wait a few months!

Being based in Warwick I too hope to visit Stealth in the near future.
Will be interested to hear how much you can specify the tuning ie. more torque but less power etc.
Keep us posted.
 
Mine's been 'Stealth'd bythe previous owner. When I drive the wifes compared to mine I can notice the difference - mid range pick up is far better and for some reason fuel econ too (but only if I stick below 65!).
 
Sorry for the delayed update, Vince had to carry out some additional work that showed up whilst mapping the little monkey.

So after having a full service, some new Injector seals and a new Turbo control solenoid my A2 now has 106.5bhp. :D

I'm still grinning...and wondering why I didn't do this 2 years ago! I think its the engine response from 2-3k that is the most impressive, the revs build and leap up to 3-3.5k within seconds rather than weeks.

Thanks for the post. The torque curve looks quite different to another member who had Stealth remap his 75PS.

In fact I really like the look of yours since it offers such a constant high torque over a wide rev range.

Did you request this characteristic, or is it simply what you were offered?

I'm sill promising myself to go soon, more so if I can request torque like yours.

BTW: Do you know how they estimate the engine torque as a function of torque at the wheel?

This is just what Vince carried out, I know nothing about this sort of thing so I just let him get on with it (he is the expert after all :))

As I said in my update, I did have a full service, new injector seals and a new turbo control solenoid. These engine repair additions might have improved the quality of the re-map, I honestly don't know.

All I can say is if you get your car mapped then invest some extra cash in getting small engine glitches fixed as well, as they have a surprising effect on the quality of the final re-map (the first map attempt was very different because of the worn injector seals and knackered turbo control solenoid)
 
I would have thought that the remap is pretty standard (although Vince did say that he is constantly learning and tweeking). Therefore my conclusion would be that it was the service that made the difference.

It would be great if someone close to Vince would ask him to post his thoughts on the subject and on his remap service in general. I am sure he would get more business as well as dispell some myths.
