Im Currently listening to ...

Yep - Solid Air is fantastic. Used to have that on constantly in the car a few years back. Great discovering something old (1973) but new Carl!

John was (is) brilliant. Always thought of him as a Glasgow boy even though he was born in Surrey) Ref #77 - I didnt know the National had a new one coming out. That's me off to Play.com!

Bloodbuzz Ohio from them is a standout for me. Their drummer is an amazing thing to see as well.

High Violet is good...but to me Boxer is another level. Absurdly good album.

I'm going to see them in Brooklyn on June 5th. Bought the tickets, then subsequently backed a biz trip around the gig. One needs to prioritize, after all.

Check the new tunes from the upcoming album on YouTube.

Cheers, Hedge

The new DP album is out on the 20th of this month. The same day as the new (The) National album is out.

The National's new one arrived this morning and is playing as I type. Very good - thanks for the heads up. Also noticed Sigur Ros has a new album out in June. Looking forward to that.

Passenger. All the little lights. Simple uncomplicated and does make me drive like a demon !

Best of Michael Jackson popped up on my RNS-E this morning.

Michael Jackson is one of those guys who you think, well he ain't bad until you hear some duffer of a singer on one of the many "talent" shows destroy one of his songs to make you realise how good he was.

Some of his early stuff with the 5 shows how damn good he was - even simple 'ol Rockin Robin always raises a smile with me.

Absolutely agree - the musicianship is really quite impressive. I felt the same listening to Best of James Brown the other day - the energy of the groove is something else - those boys could really PLAY!

You just can't beat a bit of soul to lighten up the er.... soul.

Some of the old Stax Records stuff is worth a listen too - the bassist in Booker T (the house band) was pretty damn good. In fact the whole band weren't bad.

If you've got DAB, the Craig Charles Funk and Soul show on 6 music is just getting better and better (Sat 6pm). If it's still available on iplayer, May 4th's James Brown Special was a cracker...

Only got DAB in the kitchen and when I'm mooching about in there cooking and what not, I'll usually tune & leave it on Radio 5 Live. I've had others recommend 6 music and now the footie season is over perhaps I'll re-tune for the summer season and see what I can catch.

Spot on, Murdo. Love SR.
The new National album is genius, adore it.

Craig Charles on Sat, and Cerys Matthews Sundays at 10am are my highlights. Jarvis on Sundays at 4pm is normally superb too...

I'm currently listening to............................nothing!

My trusty Linn Classik has developed a laser traverse mechanism fault this morning:(

No harm to it I suppose its 7 years old now - found a reputable place in Glasgow that will repair this and carry out a service..

No sounds for a week though. Not good!

Murdo i think this is quite a common fault with the Linn Classik a friend of mine has one of the old grey Linns and he has had it repaired
several times but at the cost of a Linn it has to be worth repairing ... :)
