My turn indicators keep failing. Firstly, a couple of years ago I replaced the indicator relay, and all was fine. Recently, it keeps failing. Sometimes replacing the fuse fixes it, but sometimes the relay has also gone. I have had the relay, indicator stalk and I think the hazard switch unit all replaced by a reputable independent Audi specialist with the full diagnostic equipment. Last time the fuse blew I replaced it and the garage drove the car for 3 days trying to replicate the problem, including moving the wiring around in an attempt to get it short out - with no luck. Drove it fine for 3 weeks, and now the fuse for both turn indicators has blown again, plus the fuse for the hazards.
The garage is saying they need to start taking the car apart (starting with the dash and door trim) to find the fault - and thats going to be very expensive.
I haven't pinned down under what circumstances the fault happens -it has certainly happened while driving, and may also have happened while stationary.
Anyone got any ideas? Perhaps a fault with another electrical component causing a problem??
