Injectors or something else?

Hi folks, first time posting and i have to admit that i'm not mechanically minded when it comes to cars. I am having issues with my 1.6 petrol in that it struggles to accelerate and mis fires, you can smell the petrol as if its flooding. RAC guy says that its the injectors. I'm wondering if this is a big and expensive job. Any thoughts as to whether it could be something else? Sometimes it will run fine then get moody again so i'm at a loss. Thanks in advance

Yes a good trusted garage will certainly e your best bet. Regardless it is important with the A2 that you get relevant scan results so as to help you and us diagnose issues. The preferred one is VCDS and the free Lite version is downloaded from RossTech and you will also need an old laptop with a free USB port and a special KKL cable from ebay.

Or a friend with VCDS to scan the car and give you the results.

Seeing as you are in Stoke On Trent, WOM Automotive are by far your best bet, they know them inside out and upside down! They are based in Lower Tean, so not a million miles from you. The strong fuel smell may even be a leaking fuel pipe(had it on mine a couple of years back)...if the AA man says it may be injectors, he may have already scanned it to determine this answer.
