Inner Gaiter removal, rounded spline bolt - Advice please!

Tell him that an auto licence will forever (well, a while) prevent him from being an asset on road trips and car share holidays and will his personality really be enough to guarantee an invite?

All for the sake of learning a new skill which makes for a much more entertaining driving experience option.

Also, offer him a Smart Fortwo to learn in and see if he still loves auto only.

I think at this stage its just about the easiest route to getting him on the road. I spent a good deal of lockdown getting him going in the A2, but he has A levels next year and it's just a case of the path of least resistance. I take your point, he understands too, but he's not really into cars. I remember when I was his age all I wanted was the personal mobility...kids in his age group don't seem to have the same 'drive'

Get in you beauty!

Thanks everyone for your generous and patient help.

Congratulations!

My wife has a Smart Fortwo and did her Auto-only licence in a week.

It’s a bit limiting in some ways but it’s more of a problem for me than her!

Easy enough to get a new licence in 10 years and it means you’ve got an A2 to play with.

What is the Smart four two like as a car? I was thinking of something like a Fiat 500 or a Fiesta.

Pass on MoT is always good :)

my 18-year-old is happy to drive the A2... she's getting better at it, too. Now to sort out the icetrack sessions in winter so she can really practice...
