INTERIOR LIGHTS?

i have a small problem which i hope someone out there can help me with.
both front & rear interiour lights work perfectly when switched at lights however they do not opperate when doors are opened or locking opperated.
car is a 2001 1.4SE petrol.

your help would be most appreciated [1]

You have got the switch in the middle, theres ON (on all the time), middle (on when the doors are opened or unlocked) and then theres OFF (not on at all).

Other than that all I would do is set the switch to the middle and openand close each door in turn, if still nothing its off to Audi...

I presume there is a microswitch on each door to operate the lights when opening the door?

Do all these work/move in and out when pressed with a finger?

As for the unlocking not operating the lights it does sound to be a electronic brain fault.
