Intermittent running problems

Looking for help please. My 1.4tdi has been running very poorly particularly in the cold weather when the steering warning light comes on and shuts down the power steering, also the radio keeps turning off and on. I suspected electrical problems so had the car serviced last month (oil change, air, oil and pollen filter) and checked over by the mechanic who looked for electrical issues and ran the Audi diagnostic tests but no fault codes were evident. Another problem is that the car doesn't accelerate well and feels like it is misfiring when pulling away or changing up through the gears. My husband has kept tabs on some of the posts here e.g. Checking the power steering fluid etc. but he is stumped by this, any help or suggestions would be great.

Im going to go out on a limb here and suggest it could be the injector wiring harness but would like to know what error codes have been logged first. Can you get a diagnostic scan done?

Thanks for the suggestion, the mechanic says he has done this and no fault codes were evident. To be fair he hasn't worked on Audis and had to get a special cable / software tool to check this out? I am now wondering if this was a proper Audi diagnostic check - any ideas how I can get this done again, or is there something I can do myself? My husband has also been advised to change the fuel filter also.

Whereabouts in Kent are you? What device/cable did your mechanic use to read for error codes?
