Internal Panel Lights remain lit when car is locked

Good morning.

I posted this in ‘today I’ but thought I should create a new topic so I can ask for more help if needed and ‘hopefully’ add a conclusion when it’s sorted.

The issue is that I noticed that my cigarette socket, asr button, light switch and heated seat controls glow red with the door locked. It isn’t changed by the headlight switch (which was off) and indicators etc are also off (the audible alarm for ‘lights on’ works well).

There were helpful replies to check my lights weren’t left on and @audifan posted the following:

‘Could be a CCCU issue. First disconnect both battery terminals and do a reboot. Touch the two now disconnected battery LEADS together for about 5 seconds, then reconnect them to the battery ensuring they are tight. Also check the block to the left of the positive terminal is secure to the positive clamp and all the internal connections inside the block are tight and not corroded. While at the battery check for water. Next raise the passenger carpet and get to the CCCU /ECU compartment under the floor, again check nice and dry. Could be wet due to monkeys incorrectly jacking the car and puncturing the floor or rain water leaking in from the door seals etc. If damp dry everything out. disconnect and reconnect the connectors on the CCCU a few times to wipe the contacts again check for water or signs of burning due to arcing or shorting.
Check fuses 36, 38 and 42 with a meter.
Have a VCDS scan done to see if that highlights anything.’

The car is at the garage at the moment but I shall update in a week or so when I get it back.

I’ve had terrible battery drain for the last year as well so fingers crossed I can solve this.

Any further suggestions are VERY welcome.

Alex.
