Hi ,

Can someone help me with a information what i can do ?
i have a Audi A2 from 2001 1,4 AUA engine cod.
To weeks ago when i was driving the car , sadly noticed the speedometer was not shows the speed . everything else it was ok .
After i stopped the car and start to drive again it was working . I had this problem two or three times and after, has disappeared .
Unfortunately yesterday start again to happens .
I noticed when the speedometer does't works then the tank indicator it is not shows the correct amount . ( the needle is constantly moving )
Everything else it is working .
No fault cod on Vag-com , Topdon , AutoLogic.

Has anybody seen before this problem .

I'd start by removing the cluster, then unplug and clean the both sides of the connector.
This thread might help you get the cluster out.

Hi , i tried but unfortunately still doesn't works. I noticed that the on-board computer does not work and the distance traveled is not recorded on the board.
Best Regards,

Best Regards,
We gave several companies that repair instrument clusters, I would think that there are some in Norway as similar failures happen with other car makers clusters, of a similar period. Try Googling to locate one. Good luck, and let us know how you get on.
Soldered joints fail after many years of temperature cycling, and vibration.

Hi , i start to search on Partslink24 and i find this sensor : 6Q0 919 149 A distance sensor . I will try to change this because it is possible this is making the problem,it is mounted near to the water drainage from the windshield ,and if I think about it, the problem started to appear when it started to rain in the previous days.

That's why I suggested finding a fixer in Norway, or, at least the EU.
VAT and import duty make it a non runner. Hence Audi Tradition don't ship here.

2001 AUA so is that the mk20 ABS that has a speed sensor is on the rear of the gearbox / differential unlike the later mk60 ABS sensor driven speedo.

As for the tank that could be low battery, loose terminals on the tank sender, bad connection on the cluster plugs, bad earths and even faulty voltage regulator.

The car starts and runs fine, and the cluster, with the mentioned exceptions, is OK, so battery seems unlikely. Connections to, or within, the cluster are more likely, IMO.

If a postal service is viable then PM Tom(@timmus) there is good chance he can fix it.
Just not sure if the postal service to Norway is now a viable option for @timmus
If the cluster can be posted to the UK, I’d suggest that the likelihood of me being able to resolve the issue is pretty high.
I receive/send parcels from/to Central Europe fairly regularly, so international boundaries shouldn’t be an issue.

From the evidence presented so far, I’m reasonably confident that the cluster itself is at fault.

Cheers,

Tom

Hi guys,
Today I received the sensor and i have changed. Now it is working everything like should :)
The tank indicator it is showing the correct amount , so this means that the on-board computer calculates the fuel consumption based on the speed and then shows the amount.
The sensor cost 25 Euro - Hella from Autodoc.
In the same time I checked the battery charge, and if the alternator charges correctly , luckily everything it is ok.

Best Regads,
