Your radio needs to have a CD button, on the facia, (doesn't need a 6 CD changer to be fitted though). That means Chorus II or Concert II. The HU input, that the changer uses is the only "spare" input. It does, however, expect to see the changer, so is not an "Aux In" You need an adapter that emulates the changer, and provides the input you need. The features these adapters provide range from basic wire Aux to Bluetooth, media only (no phone calls), and Bluetooth media and hands free call answering (not outgoing). Adapters can also support a thumb drive and SD Card. I have the AnyCarLink 1080-B, Bluetooth, SD, USB, and mic. Comes with adapter cable and mic, even radio extraction keys.
So, decide what features you want, (and how much you want to spend), and go from there. My kit came in at around £75, on Amazon. Had it about 18 months, and I'm very happy with it. ? Mac.

Thank you for that , I’m happy to pay that no problem if you had a link to the one you bought that would save me a lot of headache :) I need to check my radio for a cd button though

To piggy back off this - anyone know of more recent adapter for bluetooth etc. as most of the ones tested/fitted seem to use old bluetooth standards (would like bluetooth 4.0 or later with aptx support but i might be dreaming here)

Could use aux in i suppose but with phones moving away from good old AUX jack i'll likely end up unable to use the aux. Thinking maybe of just getting aux adapter and then strapping on a good quality bluetooth to aux receiver behind the dash...

Does anybody know if the stereo receives an analogue signal (would make sense) or is it converted from analogue to digital? (from the cd changer port that is)

(there are bluetooth 4.0 adapters from china but i'd imagine the sound quality would be incredible in all the wrong ways)

Yes, it does. The CD changer input receives analogue audio, meaning any digital-to-analogue conversion has to be done outside the head unit.
The head unit obviously has its own DAC for the CD player, but this DAC isn't externally addressable.

Cheers,

Tom

Thanks Tom,

In my head something like https://www.amazon.co.uk/AUKEY-Bluetooth-Receiver-Wireless-Hands-Free-black/dp/B00O8GASEA (good quality bluetooth receiver with hands free functionality) with aux going to head unit would work quite nicely as older bluetooth standards are not very good with sound quality.

Just a thought though, likely not worth faffing about with to save the few quid.

i just fitted the device recommended above and i can say its absolutely spot on, sound quality is amazing and literally takes 5 mins to fit :) would recommend it to anyone
