Is mine a rare colour?

When I looked at mine to buy I thought it was a dark grey and my wife thought it was black.... My log came through and it's blue. Does anyone know the colour?. Looks black in some light, looks grey in others.. but in my outside light it is dark blue .... Strange. Never seen one before or maybe I made the same mistake.

have you got the book that that came with the car from new.?
the paint code will be in that, failing that, have a look in the boot near the battery, there should be a sticker with the code on it.

Evening Jim,

It sounds like your A2 is Cobalt Blue which is easily mistaken for black in low light conditions. Give it a good polish and wax and sit back and admire the terrific colour.

As John just mentioned. I’m guessing the paint code is LZ5Q. Cobalt Blue but this is just a guess from your description.

Kind regards,

Tom

Cheers Tom, It is a nice colour, been waiting for. Good weather to get it looking good ?

Had a silver one before and that's all I see
A lot rarer than silver for sure, most a2s are silver or black that you see so any of the other colours seem rare by comparison. I think cobalt is less common for sure, but I’ve seen a few, always looks great with a blue interior ?

What year is it? Could be cobalt blue which is one of those strange colours which looks both blue and black, beat me to it Tom ?

Always good to see another Cobalt one ? Apart from mine, that's five others I know of in the club now, but I'm sure there are more.

When I hosted @timmus' retrofitting tour in early September, a Cobalt one arrived on my driveway with an Ebony Black bonnet on, and it really wasn't the first thing you noticed about it. They really are very similar colours.

I think they are slowly dropping in to people's hands that care, and it been a different one I feel it's more special. Loooved my silver one but this one is different.

Is it a rare colour ?, 2001 .
A rare colour but I doubt if anyone will find out how rare, only Audi will know. There are DVLA figures for colours but all the 6(?) variants of blue end up simply recorded as blue .

Cobalt blue is a great colour when polished up and shiny. Flicks through blue, purple and black depending on the light.
