Is TDI75 really TDI86.25

Just a quicky, seems AMF injectors are same a ATJ/AJM 115 injectors so on that alone the math would be 86.25 unless the turbo is the governor??

When I had my remap at Stealth it was assessed before and after. Before came in over 80bhp (82 from memory). Vince said that all 75s came in higher.

So I asked Vince for another 25% (for insurance purposes) making my A2 a modest 93.75bhp ;)

the injectors are NOT the governing factor in the engine producing 75bhp
Most TDI75's actually are near to 80BHP, the map on the ECU is the thing which sets the BHP value
The injectors are common to the 4 cyclinder PD engine 1.9lt and can be driven beyond thier rated values to around +18% before they start to go 'none linear'. This is the reason along with the increase in turbo boost pressure that the PD engines are able to be remapped to in excess of 100bhp
The ATL engine (tdi90) is fitted with bigger injectors which again with an increase in boost pressure allows the ATL engine to be remapped to in excess of 115bhp

Hope this clarifies the injector question

Hi Paul

Many thanks for the information!!
Excuse my stupidity but does this mean any pd injector can be fitted to the TDI75? Strange how some 115 AJM/ATJ are the same but a AUY 115 (found in galaxy) appears to be different? Would fitting a single 130 injector cause any problems for example?
Have heard new seals and clamp bolt must be used upon installing any injector?
Many thanks!
Tom

Injectors MUST be fitted in matched sets I.e. all the same part number and therefore the same flow rate
New seals are also a must as is new bolts fairly sure they are stretch bolts

Also if you fitted a different set of injectors the engine would need remapping to suit the injectors
There is a company about 40 miles from me that refurbish injectors at a very reasonable price if you are having injector issues they are called Darwin Diesels

Thats great to know!
Have heard if seals leak it fills sump with Diesel and if bolt is not replaced they can rattle in the head and ruin the head but no first hand experience here!

So to conclude would fitting 3x 130 injectors have any alterations on engine performance

To be honest it would need remapping to suit the injectors but would not provide any more performance unless a larger turbo was also fitted. However this introduces turbo lag as the larger the turbo the slower the spool up time hence lag
Also the gearbox is rated to 250 lbft and my remap takes the engine to 102bhp and 140 lb ft
So as you can see taking the engine any further will also be pushing the gearbox over its limits
In conclusion if you go the 130 injector route then you also need to change the box for a 6speed myp and get a rolling road remap
Is it really worth the expense for what is likely to be another 10 to 15 bhp ?

I see no that would be a touch silly to persue unless you was really bored and money to burn!
So i guess even on a tdi75 mapped to around 100, the fitting of larger injectors would have no benefit and without further mapping alterations could be detrimental

Have you read Section 10 of the TDI120 thread, including the text in red at the bottom of the post..?

Fitting higher-flowing fuel injectors without also increasing the supply of oxygen and adjusting the map is not a good idea. You'll over-fuel the cylinders.

Exactly the 130 injectors will over fuel the engine on the std map or any remap designed for the std injectors

Injectors have a band where they inject in a linear fashion the PD injectors can be driven beyond the upper limit by around 18% before they start to go none linear
As the std injector is actually rated at 86 bhp then there is suitable room to over drive the injector to achieve a remap
