Yes, its been weeks since i bought it blind from the other end of the country and waited (not so) patiently for it, and me, to be in the same place at the same time.

So, 1.6 FSi Sport, 90K miles, Black, Bose, OSS (working!), double din, cruise, bench seat, front fogs, rear electric windows, so basically it ticked every box in my book.

I wanted really a later model with a proper 3 point center seatbelt, and up close the bodywork needs a bit of TLC, but for what it cost im over the moon with it.... ;) It'll certainly be a nice little example whilst I keep an eye out for anything thats even better....

The 1.6 FSi is definitely a bit more gutsy / throaty than the 1.4 and it sounds more sporty for sure..... Love it.

...and it's got SideGuard!

Congratulations. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Are the centre caps originally that colour, or have they been painted?

Cheers,

Tom

Beautiful example of an A2 !! Congratulations. I'm so jealous lol .

Yup, although not planning to try it out..... :p

They looked odd on the dealer photos too, but in the flesh they look quite normal....... I think they're original, but the wheels are definitely not genuine, they weigh a ton and have a zillion stud fittings. I'll be keeping my eye out for a set of tidy originals to replace them in time....

Very nice. Jealous of the Bose and working OSS!!!

BTW, SideGuard, wow, I'd never even heard of it!!!

Those wheels look entirely genuine, are you SURE they are not, I have never seen anything that even remotely looks like the genuine article. If they are NOT original then they are a superb copy.
And by the way, the original wheels weigh a ton too !!!

What do you mean by the "Zillion stud fittings?" do you mean they have 10 wheel stud holes?

Very interesting.

And I hate the car !!!!! (because it is not mine!!!)

Congratulations, I picked up a 1.4 sport, in silver today, first time Ive ever drove one, brilliant..

see you out there, John.

Yes, a good spec. indeed! I'm obsessed with (relative) economy, so it has to be a diesel! BUT, if I had your very car, then I'd be itching to go for an LPG conversion! You would have the power and the "glory" (of economy), too!

David

Do fuel-stratified injectors work with LPG? Given how octane-specific the FSI is, I'm not sure about this...

Tom

I can't remember just how high it actually is, but LPG is well over 100 octane! With an LPG powered car, it is possible to advance the timing significantly. In fact, I have used just such an electronic device, called a "dual-curve". It was manufactured in New Zealand (and I've still got it!) Yes, LPG is quite some fuel to use .... a very clean engine, too ..... absolutely no deposits!

Um, well, I was until you questioned it so..... :)

without checking, 10 sounds reasonable. I assume 5 for the tt/a3 offset and 5 to fit other vag marques... I wouldnt expect an oem wheel to be multi fit ??

lol.... I'm still loving the 6 spoke avus wheels on your daughters a2........, id be quite tempted to swap these for some of them at some point. Got another 1.4 se coming tomorrow as i made a guy a cheeky cheap offer I thought he would certainly refuse and er, won it....

Did 50 mile journey home tonight in the sport, sunroof wide open, Bose banging out the tunes, cruise on. It was epic.... Really really lovely motor....

Don't think they do no. I bought my FSI from someone who bought it intending to convert to LPG but found it wasn't possible He worked for a rally preparation company and had been a driver himself so knew a bit about cars.

No OEM wheel would be multifit, so they must be copies !!! really good looking ones too, and it even sounds like they copied the weight too, the OEM 17" Sports alloys are HEAVY".

Anyone ever seen exact copies before with multiholes?

The problem with an LPG conversion is that it would take years of use to even come close to recovering the cost of the conversion, and you may find that it actually devalues the car too.

So I too like the idea of "half price" fuel, but the cost of conversion and the loss of space (taken up by the tank) means that it never really works out unless you convert a REALLY uneconomical car such as a Rolls Royce or V8 Range rover etc,
