ITXX: IceTrack 2020

Icetrack 2020 is coming. There are some changes for this year, primary amongst them being it mutating into a three-weekend event. The weekend of 1+2 Feb 2020 is the one for the A2 group. There will be additional events on the weeks before and afterwards.
I expect to be able to offer driving someone else's car for at least one weekend, and it may be possible to do all sorts of other stuff now. Like seriously cool rally stage stuff, but I need to gauge car and instructor costs and interest on that one before saying much more.

However: spaces are going to be *tight* on that A2 weekend; I think I'm already at 20 cars and it's only just June.
I'll publish the video from last year shortly. If you're interested, please let me know either here or email icetrack2020 at gmail dot com.

A note on costs: something similar to 2019 is likely. For driving someone else's car, the cost is likely to be around €1000, which will include hotel, food, transfers, drive time, instruction and the first €150 of fuel. Those cars will likely be front, rear and awd, and also some will have studs, others rally spikes. As a learning tool for grip and its effect, it won't get much better than this. We've asked for a large "freifläche" - so an empty iced space - to do more safety stuff and practice donuts etc.
For driving your own car, Finnlines cabin prices have just been published: apparently, it's €624 for four in a cabin - *return* - including car from Travemünde to Helsinki. That's €300 for a car with two people or €150 return for a driver.
Assume €700 for the weekend - 200 track, 200 hotel, 150 food package, and another €150 for fuel and you're not far off. You also get a great springboard for other adventures, for example up north to watch the lights, spend some time in Helsinki, or go wandering in deep, deep snow.... your choice :)

Details from me, I'll push more here as I have them, I need to talk to Trackmeister and my hotel guy before I go much further.

I don't think so. Old friends of the site and known faces were there, but I don't remember seeing any UK plates.

You can always find an excuse to fly in and not drive; I'm reasonably sure we need to do some airport transfers to and from Kuopio this year. That also cuts cost down if you're not driving yourself.

Booking procedure and costs are now sorted: essentially it's an email to info at lohimaa with your details and the timing you're interested in. The rest is pretty simple.

If you want more details, you can also email icetrack 2020 at gmail - without the space - and I'll answer your questions.

Hi, Thanks for the heads-up, I thought I had a redirect in place but obviously not.

I've seen it and will respond either later tonight or tomorrow, just on the way out of the door right now
