Juddering from 1.6 Sport

Hi

Just bought a A2 1.6 Sport with 10K and the car judders while in low revs when in second and third gears once warm. Is this a common fault or does anyone know what is causing it to do this? Luckily the cars has got a 3 month warranty with it as its going back to be looked at.

Otherwise an excellent car?

my 1.4 did something similar, turned out to be the coil packs that fit onto the sparkplugs.
easy to change, i ended up doing all four as they often go wrong it seems.

We have a 1.6FSi SE with no such problem, it should not do this.
Our car did have quite a lot of "lag" at low revs in 2nd and 3rd and did not instill confidence away from roundabouts on rolling starts etc.
I am now signed up to Shell V-Power U/L it does seem to make things better (IMHO):p

The 1,6's need high octane fuel to run properly, you will feel a judder from the engine using ordinary 95 RON. 97 RON from BP OK, Shell Optimax 98 RON OK, 100 RON from Tesco also OK.

Just got the car back from the garage and they have noticed the problem as well so thats a start.

They have diagonsed the problem as being the "logic" in the car. Apparently on A2's, A3's and A4's there is a "logic in the car to make the car run more fuel efficent, so when tootling round town it kicks in to save petrol. So being in Guernsey and the speed limit is 35mph it's always active, but when I put my foot down or go up a hill it struggles and judders as there is not enough fuel going through. This can be turned off on A3's and A4's but not A2's.

Am I being fobbed off or is this true?
