Hi,

While trying to decide on what to replace our 2002 A3 1.9 TDi Quattro (3 door) with now the Mrs is up the duff, I stumbled on the A2, and your good site.

I've had an A2 a few times as a courtesy car and I must admit I liked it.
Always wished for a bit more power & Bose stereo though.
Now after mooching around on here, I discover that they do do more power & Bose.
So I reckon I'm hunting a 90 BHP model with leather & Bose now.
Are these rarer than hen's teeth ?

Cheers,

Mr L :D

Good luck with your search, I am pretty new to the A2OC, and similarly am seeking out the elusive high spec. A2 diesel. (along with fellow new member mxpe thats 3 of us after a similar motor now) this site is a great wealth of information and more experienced members/owners have been helpful and knowledgable. If you look at my post re. 'first A2 wanted' in the wanted/buying section, you will see that someone has listed the numbers of Tdi90's registered in the UK year on year. I have been looking for a couple of months now and the odd well speced TDi is advertised, although I havent seen a 90 with Leather and Bose. (Theres a black '04 TDi 90 on Autotrader at the moment with grey leather - no Bose though)
On advice and research on this site I am looking at 75TDi as well which can be remapped to give that extra oomph, and increases the chance of finding that high spec gem! ;)

Also available with 110 bhp

All this talk of ooommmpppphhhh

Do not forget Audi did slip the 110bhp petrol engine into the A2 as well :D

£115 road tax - 40 mpg - goes round corners - loathed by boy racers all over Blackpool

Thanks for the welcome guys.

It's definitely going to be a diesel. We had a petrol A3 Quattro first, but the diesel is better to drive I think and does about 50% more MPG.

My TT is going to have to go later this summer I suspect, that will break my heart, but I shall keep my bike no matter what.

So what can they remap a 75 BHP diesel A2 to ?

There are many amongst the Diesel burners who have tweaked, some have warmed their TDi's and we have couple that are on fire - there is even one amongst us who has a TDi 90 running approx 130 bhp and 255ft-lbs (346Nm) torque :eek: (some say he wears carbon fibre underwear and has a diet solely made up of Naga Morich Chilli Seeds) but we just know him as "Skipton" :D
I am sure he will be here soon to tell you (and if you're lucky - show you) what can be done

Hello MrL and best of luck in choosing that A2.

Your instincts are right - go for the TDi and preferably the 90, but don't turn your nose up at a good 75 as the re-mapped differences are minimal (one 75 owner is getting 110PS from his Y reg car). Yes, I am getting a fair bit more than this, but that is with a de-cat (particulate filter removal) and a straight through 2.5" stainless custom pipe, K&N filter and a succession of remaps.

One downside of this is that the gearbox is approx. 30% over its torque rating, but I've not noticed any ill effects in 52K miles of motoring.

If you are anywhere near Manchester, I'll gladly demo the virtues of the A2 and as far as economy goes, on a run to Twickenham and back on Sunday, I saw 60mpg, including a fair bit of London mileage.

As to the underwear and diet, not a million miles away Tony!!;)

Cheers,

Mike

So, is there anywhere I should be looking for my dream A2 in particular ?
Audi UK site, Autotrader, PistonHeads ?

All of the above and don't discount car supermarkets either, they sometimes don't know what they've got!
