key battery

Insert a small flat bladed screwdriver into the gap in the back of the fob and prise the fob apart.

Take the bit without the metal key attached and split it into two by using a sharp knife or fingernails if they are strong enough.

Remove the old battery and insert the new one. They take CR2032 batteries (one of).

Cheers,

Mike

No worries Knocker - forgot to add that the key would need to be re-sync'ed after the battery replacement.

Cheers,

Mike

Darn it.

Was looking forward to being able to give something back after Mike helped me with this very problem, and find that once again he beat me to it :)

Changing the battery in the remote is about the extent of my mechanical abilities, so until the next time someone asks....

:)

I'm having a bit of trouble with my keys too. First of all, the main one I use stopped working. I assumed the battery was flat, and used the spare in the meantime until I got a battery for it. Then, the spare stopped working too, so I got a couple of batteries, changed each one and did the re-sync as described in the owners manual in turn. The main key seems to work again ok, but I can't get the spare working! It just seems to be completely dead. I did the re-sync as described on another post on this forum (which seems to differ from the way it's described in the manual), but that hasn't worked either...

Any advice appreciated.

Jon

Try doing the re-sync with the working key in the ignition and switched to the ACC. position (i.e. engine not running).

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks Mike. I think I already tried that, but will give it another go. Going to try another new battery too, just in case... maybe the last one was a dud (from Boots Chemist!).

I'm just worried in case the one good remote I have goes funny on me again. Due to the parking situation outside my house, I have to park by reversing in with the drivers door tight up against a wall (don't ask!) I then scooch in and out over the passenger seat. As there's only one keyhole on the drivers side, if both remotes pack up I might have a bit of a problem getting into the car...!! :0

I'm still not having any luck getting my spare key remote to work. What are my options now, I wonder? Is this something only a dealer can help me with...? :(

Also, I'm up for the MOT at the end of the month, do they check the key remotes are working or anything like that...?
