Kimbolton Country Fayre-in Cambridshire. 10th July 2016

A big thank you to Vonnie (and Mike) for organising yet another great social.

Fabulous cars everywhere, weather was it's usual fickle self but plenty if sun overall.

Thanks to all for making myself and Susan welcome.

To echo the comments of Geoff, another great A2OC social. As with VAG at the Manor, a great backdrop for the event. Plenty to see and do for the entire family and great cars a plenty. The hurricane fly past was a privilege.

Thanks to Mike and Vonnie for the organisation and to all who came and made the day a pleasure and a success. Even the great British weather, or lack of at times, couldn't dampen the spirits of those present.

A real shame that Mike couldn't be there, you were missed mate, a speedy recovery.

Nice to meet some new people (friends) today in addition to those long standing friends.

Thanks everyone that came along to the show today. We only had a small group of cars (9 A2s + 1 S1) and a Porsche that decided he'd like to sit in our lineup for a large part of the day.

I really appreciated everyone's help in both setting up and packing away the coffee station and gazebo.
Great to see and chat to everyone. I'm not sure I got to see all the cars on display but did have a good walk around and came home with a bag full of tombola prizes.

Thanks to all that came today and represented A2OC. Thanks also to those that helped yvonne out with the setting up of the camp. I was really upset to have missed this weekend especially as we had booked the weekend starting from friday afternoon. I think I'm getting better and I'm sure in a few days ill be back to normal, its been a week now and i have had enough. The pics of the day look great and the weather was typically British. Thanks for the well wishes.
So on with the next one AITP. Cheers Mike

Was nice to see a line of A2s (and a lovely S1) at Kimbo. :)

I was displaying one of my other cars elsewhere but wandered over for a chat on a couple of occasions. Unfortunately, both times the stand seemed deserted. Great to see a healthy number of local (ish?) A2s though. We will hopefully join you next year.

Sorry I missed you. What may I ask was your other car?

I was actually there with two other cars Darren (greedy!). One was a Clio 172 and the the other was a Clio V6. Was a great day, even managed to get under cover during the showers. Unlike 2015...

I'm sure I heard somewhere that the clio v6 was partly developed because Renault had got wind that Audi were developing an A2 3L.

I have heard this both ways, that which you suggest and also Audi got wind of the "3ltr Clio" and assumed that it meant 3l of fuel per 100km and so hastily developed a 3l of their own....

To be honest I don't think either is true. Renault have a long history with mid-engined hatchbacks and Audi would be very unlikely to develop an entirely new engine on a whiff of a rumour about what Renault were conceiving.

Its a good story though. Great car as well. Next year if your there i would love a look over your clio 3.0. Cheers mike

I like the urban legend so I'm sticking with it :)

Quite a difference to go from having a Clio V6 show car to a 1.4 petrol A2. What spurred that decision?

Having a family forced my hand somewhat Steve, as the A2 is my wife's car. The A2 fulfils the desire to always try and own 'quirky' cars and yet it offers a huge amount of space and practicality for it's footprint. Fits perfectly into the desire I have to own the right car for the job. V6 for widow making thrills and spills and the A2 for serene family wafting. :D
