Komfortblinker

Was this regarding the Komfortblinker or the Cruise Control harness?

Thanks
The Komfortblinker for the A3 not the Cum-cartec one, like i said there was quite a few that found different variants but didn't work. I'm just putting it out there,

Cheers Phil

I must say, whilst I am always up for a useful upgrade, this one leaves me cold.

When I change lanes etc. I just hold the indicator until the move is complete (in my opinion, 3 blinks isn’t enough for a safe lane change whereby you can be sure everyone around you has noticed and therefore has sufficient advance warning of the manoeuvre; also when I want to turn - for example when exiting a roundabout - I put the indicator on proper and let the cancellation mechanism do it’s thing once the manoeuvre is complete).

So in conclusion, I fail to see the point in this modification- can someone enlighten me as to why you feel it’s useful?

Hello this is a comfort thing that when you don't need to hold or require your full indicator on, you can use this. Its to modify an old car to bring it in line with modern cars. As virtually all modern cars have this as a STD. It's no different to people wanting to fit DRL's

you have the wiring multiplugs so you can add additional wiring length so the relay can be located somewhere more accessible and audible.
In fairness i have this on the galaxy and never use it for your exact same reasons but i would like to move the relay however its not essential.

I’m well aware that all moderns have it - I just don’t see the point of spending the money to fit it as it doesn’t - to me - have a good use case

It's funny how we're all different and like/dislike different things.

Personally I'm not really in to tech and gadgets and I feel most options I don't/wouldn't even use and one of the things i like about the A2 is It's relative simplicity.

That said the Komfortblinker is the one thing that I really do miss when driving the A2 compared to my other cars. If you want and require a longer blinking change (in a busy situation for safety) then you can obviously turn the indicator on the usual way and turn it off when you want to but often, for example when having overtaken a car in the slow lane and when returning back to that lane it is ideal then.

I know some people don't bother to indicate at all which really annoys me but I always indicate whenever I make a manoeuvre and always have.

Again it's just each to their own?

Yes so do I (indicate for all manoeuvres) - I just hold the indicator halfway until it’s done.

I don’t think I’ll ever “get it”, so I’ll bow out at this point and wish you gents luck in getting this over the line.

The vast majority of the Audis I have owned over the years all had the Komfortblinker. As such I have used this feature a lot. It was missing on my A2 and when I found the Cum-cartec kit a few years ago I fitted it. I would estimate that I use the Kumfort about 65% of the time and full indicators the rest.
Many newer cars from most manufacturers now have this feature and more people are using it ( those that use indicators that is )
