L’y The 1.2 TDI

Evening Erling,

Great write up and the 3L is looking fantastic. Tom really has worked his magic in there has he.

I like the Twist highlights, makes it look very contemporary, nice touch.

Such a wonderful transformation which I know you’re pleased with and will enjoy it more and more as you clock up the miles.

Kind regards,

Tom

This evening I arrived home to a parcel from Wales. My soul black centre vents and glove box had arrived 😊

So after putting my little girl to bed and having my dinner, I popped out to fit them and take some pictures of where I’m up tooView attachment 95921

There is definitely lots more to do, not least fitting the auto dimming mirror which has been recoloured in Twist, but it’s starting to feel like the car I’d imagined.
Just to confirm it was the centre vents and ashtray, not the glovebox. No broken handles sold here 😂👍

Very true. 🙈 Duly amended. As ever, your offerings where top notch so thanks as ever 👍

Tbf, that broken handle is the least of the glove boxes problems. Sadly it’s in poor shape all round (with the exception of the little hammer at the back which is remarkably still intact!!) but LHD glove boxes aren’t that common down your way annoyingly! Can’t even find a twist one on AT 😞

What a transformation - with the black seats + dash / twist combo, Concert2 (which is all the stereo you need by the way) and that lovely mfsw you’ll end up with a fairly similar look to Audrey at first glance - the paddle-enable will certainly raise the game though.

Verdict: APPROVED.

Just realised this needed an update;

Firstly, a momentous day for the car in June

August was a relatively busy month for the car by my standards.

I fitted these TT style pedal ‘caps’ and finally got round to recolouring the new glove box I’d purchased earlier this year from AT via @Rickmeister

This will fitted once the brand new LHD light switch arrived from AT. At the same time I’ll be fitting an auto dimming rear view mirror I re coloured twist in 2021 and @timmus added wiring for last year. I’ll add pics once fitted over the coming weeks.

I’m just in the process of acquiring parts for what I suspect will be the final retrofit to this car. My little girl is now 5 and loves being able to use the electric windows in Tonka and her mothers 1 series BMW. So I can’t really have my 1.2 letting the side down. Between @A2Steve and his brilliant parts service, @V666col and his fantastic courier service and with the addition of a preemptive @depronman ‘repair’ kit soon my 1.2 will have the full suite of upgrades.

I may even let @timmus convince me to fit cruise control, though it will likely never be used.

CC is the first mod to be done to the A2

Today I removed the old exceptionally tatty, handle free glovebox from my 1.2
IMG_4341.jpeg

And replaced it with this brand new one which Ive recently recoloured with Volico from grey to Twist

I also removed this battered old headlight switch

And replaced it with this lovely new shiny one I procured from Audi Tradition via @Rickmeister and @simufly

The final job was swapping the soul black rear cup holder for this recent bargain from @A2Steve

A pleasing 30 minutes work in tropical conditions. #sweaty

Hi Erling,

As per my post on another thread: These little/quick tasks make such a difference to the cabin. It’s really looking fabulous in there isn’t it.

Kind regards,

Tom
