Leaking blue liquid

Hello again.

I have been having a little trouble recently my my A2 1.4 TDi 53 plate. I have just replaced my coolant temp sender because it had stopped working and I am leaking coolant from somewhere but I have a new problem.

After giving the car a once over and looking under the car to see if I can see some pools of water, I found some droplets under the front of the car about 30cm towards the passenger side under the engine and arms length from the front (if that makes sense, if not i can draw a picture).

The liquid it a light blue, slightly oily and no real scent.

-I know its not engine oil because that has a scentand would be dark
-I also know its not coolant because its oily and i dont put oil in my coolant but it is a similar colour.
-I know its not diesel because it doesn't smell like diesel.

Any ideas what it could be?

Thanks for your help.

Is your coolant blue or pink? from your description of where the fluid is it does sound like its from under the expantion tank which is that side

Thanks for your response. Yes my coolant is blue. But the leak is on the other side, the opposite side to the expansion tank (which i think is the tank that you put the coolant).

What colour is the break fluid and the steering fluid?

Thanks

The leak could be from the water pump seal (water pump is hidden behind the cambelt cover on the front of the engine)
For info, Audi recommend that only their coolant (G12 ?) is used and this is pink.

Looked on your profile and you are listing as a 1.4tdi and you are driving a right hand drive A2 so the expantion bottle is on the passenger side :confused:and from the bumper if you put your arm under the car would be arms lenght

Oops, sorry, my mistake. I meant towards the drivers side. Its need a long day

After giving the car a once over and looking under the car to see if I can see some pools of water, I found some droplets under the front of the car about 30cm towards the DRIVERS side under the engine and arms length from the front (if that makes sense, if not i can draw a picture).

Hope that's clearer.

Thats ok at least were looking in the right place now;) still think this could be a coolant problem so i would say look around the front of the engine (if you can drop the under tray to give you a better look)

Thanks, if i can get under the car to have a look is there a way to take the under panel off to get a better look? BTW, the panel that is having the leak is the panel with a little round hole in it.

Now there could be a possibilty tht you don't have a leak as it could be just execes water/coolant on the undertray thats just running off, so you need to remove the undertray thats the panel with the hole.

Theres about 10 t20's i think they are and 2 10 mm nuts the nuts are in the wheel arch 1 each side, don't try to undo the screws around the hole they will be most deffinetly rusted solid, just lower the panel slightly and undo the hose normally a flat blade screwdriver should be enough. Once thats off you can have a good check for leaks

The hole in the undertray is for the exhaust from the webasto (winter heater)
